individuals working to make a positive impact on the world. Our mission starts
with making education accessible, but it extends to our dedication to
sustainability, social responsibility, and community involvement. Here’s some
of the ways MyEducator and its team members are giving back.
Company Initiatives
Student Resources and Sustainability
While MyEducator’s core purpose is to provide the world with accessible education, we also care about how we provide that education. By creating quality digital resources, we reduce the need for printed materials and save students money with lifetime access to valuable educational content. At the same time, the online nature of our resources helps the planet by saving trees and reducing our environmental footprint. Our commitment to sustainable education ensures that students can focus on learning without worrying about the financial burden.
Supporting Scholarships
In line with our mission to make education accessible, we recently partnered with one of our authors, Johnathan Davis, to create a scholarship in his name. The Jonathan J. Davis LGBTQ Scholarship at Arizona State University “aims to provide vital assistance to LGBTQ-identified honors students, facilitating their academic journey towards graduation.” Johnathan Davis is an information systems professor at the Arizona State University and is also highly involved in volunteer work, providing IT expertise to non-profits in his area. MyEducator is proud to have joined our efforts with Johnathan’s to help ensure that education is accessible to all, regardless of background or identity.
Humanitarian Efforts
Our commitment to giving back is also evident in our support
of humanitarian work. When one of our corporate partners presented MyEducator with
the opportunity to send a representative on a humanitarian trip to Guayaquil,
Ecuador, MyEducator paid for team member Nick Bahr to join the trip. During
this trip, Nick engaged in a variety of community service activities, including
the following:
-Assisting with dental work for those without regular dental care.
– Painting and working on a local school and learning center.
– Installing basketball hoops to encourage physical activity.
– Helping make a local woman’s home more livable.
– Donating Chromebooks to students in need.
Nick reflected on the experience, saying, “It was
really cool to see the difference that a little bit of education can make in
people’s lives.” Nick also expressed how grateful he was for the opportunity,
and how much he appreciates working for a company that cares about giving back.

It’s just great to work for a company whose leadership are so generous and
willing to give without getting anything back.” This trip exemplifies the
spirit of giving that is at the heart of MyEducator.
Sub for Santa
A few years ago, instead of holding a company-wide Christmas
party, MyEducator participated in a Sub for Santa
gift drive. The entire team came together to fill the wish list of a family
with three children. One of our team members shared their experience: “On
top of contributing to the gifts, I had the pleasure of helping deliver
Christmas to this family. It was so rewarding and fulfilling to see how the
efforts of all our team members came together to make that Christmas special
for this family. They were so grateful.” Finding opportunities to give
back to our communities, far away or close to home, is central to who we are as
a company.
Individual Contributions
Beyond the company-wide initiatives, many MyEducator team
members are personally involved in causes close to their hearts. Here are a few
inspiring stories:
Volunteering in Aviation
Alex, one of our team members, volunteers for the Latino Pilots Association (LPA). He serves on their communications team as a content creator for social media channels. The LPA was founded to inspire, mentor, and develop the Latino community within aviation, and to help eliminate socio-economic barriers through representation, financial support, education, and mentorship within the aviation industry.
Alex shared, “I joined as a volunteer because I wanted to give back to my community in something that I was passionate about.” He hopes to “spread the word to every Latino in aviation about LPA and help them know the ways that LPA can support them throughout their aviation journey.”
Community Leadership and Service
Carly, another MyEducator team member, has served as the elementary school PTA treasurer for three out of the last five years, dedicating 20–25 hours a month to this volunteer role. Additionally, this year she served as a local camp director and planned an adventure camp for 40 girls, demonstrating her commitment to empowering and nurturing young minds.
Global Volunteer Work
MyEducactor team member Garth has been involved in various humanitarian projects worldwide. Last month, Garth spent time in Ghana assisting in Hepatitis B research and focusing on data collection and analysis. Two years ago, Garth’s passion for penguins and volunteering coincided when he had the opportunity to go to South Africa, where he worked with malnourished African Penguins. Closer to home, Garth has volunteered for Alianza Venezolana de Utah to raise awareness about Venezuelan refugees in the state, and has spent time helping unhoused populations in both Salt Lake City, Utah, and Des Moines, Iowa. Garth said those experiences were “an example of how we can all volunteer in meaningful ways close to home—suffering is not exclusive to places we consider exotic or far away.” He expressed what drives his passion for volunteering: “I volunteer because effective volunteer opportunities are the most impactful, meaningful ways I see of spending my life. I value personal service and global impact a lot, so I am always looking for new opportunities.”
